Litter Pick 04/05/25

Litter Pick 04/05/25

Just had to put a mention on Facebook after this month’s litter pick – this is what I wrote.

Another shout out of thanks to the team who turned out for our monthly litter pick on Twmbarlwm on Sunday – you are true heroes.
And a loud scream of contempt to the morons who dump all their household waste there in the first place and vandalise the gates and landscape.
Yet another shout of gratitude to the farmer who came along to repair the vandalised gate (which he originally put there to keep his livestock safe on the common) – and whose valuable time could be better spent as it is needed at this busy time of lambing rather than making good the imbecilic actions of simpletons.

Fly tips were duly reported to CCBC

And I made an apology to the family who were on a pilgrimage up the Twmp in memory of their dad/grandad – and the photo I took for them was really badly out of focus – must have had the camera on the wrong setting – so sorry – hopefully the one I took on their camera is a lot better – but it’s great to see people coming from far and wide to visit our mountain – it means a lot to so many people.

The next litter pick will be …

Sunday 1st June 2025

Our monthly litter pick usually takes place on the first Sunday of every month – (it used to be the last Sunday but by popular demand we changed it to the first Sunday, starting 5th April 2025).

We meet at the car park below the Tump at 10:30am and we spread out from there in teams up onto the ridgeway and to the top of the Twmp itself – it’s all very informal.

We’re generally there for 2 to 3 hours and  anyone is welcome to come along to help out. It’s also an opportunity to meet other members of the Society, have a chat and learn more about the area. Afterwards we usually offer a cup of tea or soft drink and biccies to all helpers.

We provide equipment – pick up sticks, gloves, bags, brooms, shovels etc. and have hand sanitiser and wipes available. If you prefer, you can always bring along your own gloves and be self sufficient with any refreshments.

We are sometimes able to offer people a lift to the site – contact us via email and we’ll help if we can.

Look forward to seeing you there.
