Litter Pick 27/10/2019

A big thank you yet again…

…to all the volunteers who turned up to tidy up around Twmbarlwm – you’ve done a great job again.

Despite the clocks going back last night and a certain rugby world cup semi-final going on this morning, nearly a dozen people turned up for our monthly litter pick.

It was in a bit of a mess this week with somebody having dumped their garden fence and other garden waste on the edge of the car park and setting fire to it too.

The aftermath of the MacDonald and KFC picnickers was all too evident around the car park – it’s such a shame that they are too lazy to take their litter home with them after driving all the way up there with it. They must like it up Twmbarlwm to take the trouble to drive there – so come on, put your litter in a bag, in the boot of your car and take it home with you – pretty please.

It was also a disappointment to see that the rubbish we collected last month was still there – much of it scattered around again as animals have ripped open the bags and rummaged through the contents. After each litter pick we arrange with the council to come and collect the bags of rubbish – but for some reason they failed to do so last month – we will be checking with the council and making sure that it is collected this month.

I’ve said it before – Caerphilly CBC are great with their support for CTS and are usually pretty prompt at sorting out the rubbish when we report it to them – but even the best operators need a nudge now and then.

We collected well over 20 bags of rubbish and a couple of our volunteers took away 4 or 5 bags of recyclable litter (cans, plastic, glass etc.) to put in their own bins at home.

Anyway – here’s a few pics of this weekend’s work.
