Litter Pick _February 2021

Due to Covid restrictions the Society is still unable to organise our monthly litter pick – but we still try to encourage people to take rubbish bags out with them on their normal exercise walks to pick up on their way.

Fortunately there’s people out there like Jeff Mccue who went up to the car park a couple of days ago and did a great job of clearing up the area.

Then yesterday a few of us regular pickers went to finish what Jeff had started and we still managed to get 8/9 bagfuls – but we never cease to be amazed what some people think it’s OK to dispose of in our beautiful countryside.

There was an oxygen cylinder and mask – I wonder if granny is managing OK without it. Then there’s poor little Robbie Davies who has lost a pile of his Lego – because someone decided to dump it all up Twmbarlwm.

Bill and Glyn also climbed to the top of the Twmp because there has been a discarded tent right on top for months – it was full of clothing bedding and other camping gear – and it was hard work to drag it all back down – so well done to them.

It was a beautiful spring day and despite the restrictions there was still loads of visitors to the mountain – you could always see plenty of people up top and there was a regular stream of people walking up the ORPA. The car park was always full with cars arriving and leaving for the few hours we were there.

Hopefully next month we will be able to organise the event as per usual – so please watch this space for info.
