The Big Dig – Day One

Monday October 7th 2019

This was the first day of the archaeological investigation on Twmbarlwm – the idea was to show the lead archaeologist, Richard Hankinson, around the site so that he could get a “clear” view of what lay ahead – but as you can see, visibility was about 20m – and it was continual driving rain.

We were there for about three hours and all got our waterproofs fully tested but we achieved what we needed to for Day One and later in the evening 30 potential volunteers turned up for the briefing meeting at Risca museum.
